weed rice crispy treats with oil

Weed Infused Caramel Rice Krispy Treats

So I know a lot of you have been asking for weed infused recipes ever since I posted my recipe on how to make weed infused coconut oil, and don’t worry, I’m working on them! Here is the first of several to come! These Infused Caramel Rice Krispy Treats are so decadent, perfectly chewy, and of course VEGAN. And they’re gluten free? Sign me up! Also, I planned these out to be 20mg THC per rice krispy treat, but you can definitely adjust the amount of weed oil depending if you want to make them stronger or weaker. If you follow the recipe I have for weed oil, you’ll be averaging 100mg THC per tablespoon of oil, so it will just be a little math on your end to figure out how the dosage will be if you’re changing it from this recipe! You can find my weed oil recipe here ! But let’s just get into this recipe, it really is so easy to put together!

So to make these delicious treats, you only need four ingredients. That’s right. Only four! You’ll need crisped rice cereal, vegan marshmallows (My Dandies is the brand I used, and is my personal favorite because they melt really well), vegan butter (we used Earth Balance, but any vegan butter would do, or if you want to increase the dosage of these rice krispies, you can replace butter with weed coconut oil entirely!) You can also spice these guys up by adding other ingredients, like folding in mini My Dandies vegan marshmallows at the end, or adding mini vegan chocolate chips.

So the first and main step is to melt down the marshmallows. This takes a little bit longer than normal because vegan marshmallows need a little more time to melt compared to regular marshmallows. All you need to do for this is add your vegan butter, weed infused coconut oil, and vegan marshmallows into a deep pot over medium heat. You’ll need to stir these pretty frequently with a rubber spatula (anything else will just stick to the marshmallows and make a mess), to prevent them from burning. Now I know you must be thinking, “Bri, you said these were CARAMEL rice krispy treats, and you already listed the ingredients without caramel being one of them. HOW?!” Well, let me tell you. So once your marshmallows are pretty much melted, turn up the heat to medium high, and let them sit without stirring for about a minute, then stir. Continue this pattern of sitting and waiting, then stirring, a couple of times until the marshmallows begin to create a caramel. You can do this step for as long as you want, depending on how much caramel you want to form in the marshmallows, or if you want to add more without totally burning them (I wouldn’t let them caramelize for longer than like 5-6 minutes), you can add some of my Coconut Caramel Sauce into the mix before mixing with the cereal!

Marijuana Infused Rice Crispy Treats Recipe

How to Make Cannabis Infused Rice Crispy Treats

Even though we are all adults here, we all crave the comfort foods of our childhood from time to time. Honestly, who can resist the ooey-gooey goodness of melted marshmallow mixed with warm rice crispies — especially when they are infused with your favorite plant? Talk about an irresistible combination for nearly anyone but diabetics.

Making a good batch of weed infused rice crispy treats comes down to using high-quality ingredients and following a few simple directions. Use this helpful step-by-step guide to get started with your first batch of canna-crispies:

You Will Need…

  • 1 bag miniature marshmallows (use fruit flavored marshmallows to change it up)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (cannabis infused butter)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (cannabis infused coconut oil)
    • Note: You can choose to use both infused butter and coconut oil, or just use one or the other.
  • 5 cups crispy rice cereal (give or take)
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract (try a raspberry or strawberry with fruit flavored marshmallows)
  • large pan
  • cookie sheet

Directions

  1. Spray bottom of cookie sheet with cooking spray (or parchment paper makes easier cleanup)
  2. In pan over medium heat, melt butter, infused oil and extract together
  3. Continue heating over medium heat and slowly add marshmallows to the mixture, stirring constantly to prevent scorching
  4. When the mixture is well blended (remember don’t overcook) remove from heat and immediately add cereal in small portions until the cereal is evenly covered (tip: coat your spoon with a little oil first)
  5. Spread out onto cookie sheet and press down with spoon into desired thickness
  6. Allow to cool and then cut into individual portions (15-20 servings)
  7. Chocolate lovers can drizzle canna-shell chocolate across the top before cooling

Caution: Too Much Caffeine Can Negatively Affect Your Experience

If using chocolate in your recipe, please consider that caffeine is found naturally in cocoa beans, so any chocolate has a little bit of the stimulant. Candy bars generally have less than 10 milligrams, but the darker the chocolate, the higher the caffeine content. Some bars can have as much as 30 milligrams, almost as much as a can of soda. Some chocolate is fortified with additional caffeine for an energy boost and can have as much as 60 milligrams of caffeine, about the same as a cup of tea.

Dosing Considerations

Once your weed infused rice crispy treats are cooled and ready for consumption, you will first want to consider roughly how much cannabis is in an average dose (note: this will vary depending on how many individual portions you cut as well as potency of starting material). An average starting point for most first-time edible consumers is only 5-10mg. Calculating exactly how much THC is in your product is simply not possible at this time, but as long as you start low [small dose of 1-2 bites] and go slow [allow at least 90 minutes to feel the onset, and in some cases, it may take 2-6 hours to feel the full effect], you mitigate the chances of any negative experiences.

Use this step by step recipe to guide you in making weed infused rice crispy treats with medical marijuana.

CBD Charts with Medicinal Values

CBDs come from the family “Cannabis”, however, our CBDs are harvested from Industrial Hemp which has a much lower amount of the psychoactive molecule, THC. During extraction and refinement, THC is eliminated to the lowest trace element as possible and under the legal limit of 0.3%. Our CBD products are legal in all 50 states.

Full Spectrum

As we discuss full spectrum CBDs (Cannabinoids), let’s explore the more well known CBDs and what they do for humans and pets, actually all mammals. We share about 70% of our Endocannabinoid system with mammals such as dogs, cats, hamsters or horses. That’s why we manufacture CBD oils and treats for pets.

“CBD” is actually the acronym for “Cannabidiol” – only one compound of the hemp plant. Take a look at this chart by Allegiance Wellness Center to learn more about other Cannabinoids in hemp and their natural medicinal values. You can see that CBD (Cannabidiol) has a larger presence than the other Cannabinoids. I know, it gets confusing.

THCA and THC

Please note that THCA is not the same as THC. We need to heat the acid form, THCA, in order to convert a non-psychoactive state into a psychoactive state. It’s only the 9-THC that gets us “high”.

Terpenes and Their Flavors

A-PINENE (Pine Needles)

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Bronchodilator
  • Aids Memory
  • Anti-bacterial

LINALOOL (Lavender)

  • Anesthetic
  • Anti-convulsant
  • Analgesic
  • Anti-anxiety

BETA CARYOPHYLLENE (Black Pepper and Clove Oil)

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Analgesic
  • Protects cells in digestive tract

MYRCENE (Hops)

  • Contributes to sedative effect
  • Sleep Aide
  • Muscle Relaxant

LIMONENE (Citrus)

  • Acid Reflex
  • Anti-anxiety
  • Anti-depressant

Bigger Picture of CBDs

You can also see by this chart what other CBDs do. The blue dots are just Cannabidiol alone. This molecule is isolated from all of the others when producing CBD “Isolate” for the formulation of certain liquids and products.

If you are looking for specific needs, go to YouTube.com and search for “CBDs Seizures”, CBD Alzheimers” or “CBD PTSD” and find all kinds of information.

Keep experimenting and keep using your own CBDs for better health and a happier life. 🙂

CVS and Walgreens to Sell CBD Products

Sales of CBD or cannabidiol products are expected to grow fast in the U.S., according to industry source Hemp Business Journal. The buzz around the extract derived from the cannabis plant is growing even bigger now that drug store chains CVS and Walgreens announced in short succession last week that they will be stocking CBD products in the future.

CBD was also given a boost by the 2018 Farm Bill. The extract, which does not have an intoxicating effect, was legalized together with industrial hemp on the federal level in December. Before, CBD had already become legal in some states, which passed laws legalizing recreational marijuana containing THC, and in others, like Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee, which had legalized only cannabidiol.

This chart shows actual and projected growth of CBD consumer sales in the U.S. from 2014 to 2022.

Plus CBD Oil Is the Best Brand for Beginners—Here’s Why

The CBD market is a crowded place, and as someone who’s used various hemp products over the years, I’ve learned it’s hard to separate one product from the next. Many brands make the same claims about the effects of their products, and discerning the difference can be a tricky task when shopping online.

There are thousands of companies that cloud the hemp industry, making it difficult to figure out the good brands from the bad. As an average consumer, I made the mistake of not doing enough research the first time I tried CBD, and I ended up with a less-than-stellar product. Now, I make it a point to thoroughly evaluate CBD brands based on their hemp sourcing, lab test results, and my own experience when using their products.

Most recently, I’ve been using various Plus CBD products to support recovery and rest. I’ll get into my review of these products later on, but first, let me explain a bit more about the brand itself.

Plus CBD Oil was created by CV Sciences in 2014, making it one of the first hemp CBD oil brands operating in the United States. This company uses hemp seeds certified by the European Union when growing its hemp plants, and it also follows a strict CO2 extraction method when obtaining its CBD oil. This extraction process does not use harsh chemicals, is cold-based (which allows the cannabinoids and terpenes to be better preserved), and takes place in a facility that is European ISO Certified (that is, it meets or exceeds international regulatory requirements). If you’re new to CBD, this information may not seem all that important, but it essentially lets consumers know that Plus CBD products get their start from high-quality hemp seeds and plants.

Plus CBD strictly adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines, which isn’t always guaranteed among other CBD brands. For a bit of added peace of mind, all of the brand’s CBD oil products are third-party lab tested before anything is ever sent to the market.

Also noteworthy, Plus CBD Oil offers a variety of formulations with the intent to help customers find the dosage that is right for them, regardless of their experience with CBD. I appreciate the company’s belief in transparency and its commitment to helping people understand all of the benefits, as well as any side effects, associated with CBD products.

The pros

Plus CBD offers many pros to consumers seeking a hemp extract product, including:

  • All products are gluten free and non-GMO.
  • The company places a focus on education with product description videos, which is immensely helpful for CBD novices.
  • Seed to shelf traceability allows for quality assurance and purity.
  • You can reference lab test results that are batch specific.
  • Lab testing goes above and beyond the industry standard.

The cons

Of course, along with the pros, we must also consider the cons:

  • While lab testing is extensive, the results can be hard to find on the website.
  • Plus CBD Oil products are made in the European Union, as opposed to the United States. (I typically lean more toward American grown hemp-derived products as they tend to offer more transparency into the farming process of the crops. However, testing for Plus CBD is conducted in the United States, and the products are available internationally.)

Best CBD products from Plus CBD

These full-spectrum CBD oil drops aren’t the strongest of the pack when it comes to potency, but that’s what makes them great for people just starting out with CBD. This tincture contains CBD, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and fatty acids, which all help contribute to whole body health. There are three potencies available, and I tried the strongest option, which is still only 750 milligrams of CBD per 1 ounce of oil. However, I was a fan of the great flavor choices for these CBD oils, which includes an unsweetened option as well as peppermint and goji blueberry (my personal favorite).

Offered in 10-count and 30-count jars, these CBD gummies are perfect for beginners who want to try out an edible sample, or for long-term users who want a month-long supply. After trying these gummies, I can say one downside is the product’s consistency, which is a little tougher to chew through. With that said, these edibles offer an easy and efficient way to ensure your dosage is correct via a pre-measured 5 milligram serving of CBD. Infused with Plus CBD’s potent Gold Formula extract, these gummies are made from all organic ingredients, and they come in two delicious flavors: cherry mango and citrus punch.

I’m a big fan of CBD topicals, which were the first products I tried when I started my journey with CBD over two years ago. I really liked this product in particular because of its innovative method to applying CBD. The topical CBD roll-on helps the active hemp extract sink deep into the skin, which boosted my recovery post-exercise and provided soothing relaxation at the day’s end. In 200 and 500 milligram varieties, these CBD roll-ons will protect and beautify the skin with added benefits from other plant botanicals and vitamin E. The biggest perk? The CBD roll-on is easy to apply on the go and absorbs quickly with no mess.

Other important information on Plus CBD Oil

Lab testing

Plus CBD Oil products undergo extensive testing in San Diego, California. Furthermore, the CBD products are also tested by an independent third-party lab. Ultimately, this is vital to finding a high-quality CBD product because independent labs offer an unbiased analysis and insight on purity, quality, and potency.

When it comes to reading a lab test, it’s important to know the difference between certain acronyms. For instance, an “ND” stands for “Not Detected,” although you may see an analysis say 0% instead of ND. A similar but very different abbreviation is “NT,” which stands for “Not Tested,” and you should avoid any product that has not been tested thoroughly or has gaps in the testing of its cannabinoid composition. If third-party lab testing does not occur, you could end up with a cheap, low-quality, and even potentially unsafe product. Plus CBD, however, believes in total transparency, which is apparent given the fact that the company tests its products twice. Consumers are encouraged to access lab results, also called Certificates of Analysis.

Product variety

Plus CBD offers many different products appealing to varied customer needs. The brand manufactures CBD creams and lotions, balms, softgels, CBD spray with EVOO, and much more. There are also some other interesting items, like the Total Plant Complex CBD Drops, which is a formula that is gently heated to convert all of the CBDA to CBD and is heralded as hemp extract at its best.

Main takeaways

In closing, Plus CBD Oil is an outstanding brand that is passionate about educating consumers about the benefits associated with using CBD in any form, and making these products a part of their everyday life. I’d say this brand is well-suited for people who are trying CBD for the first time and may find this company particularly helpful thanks to its in-depth explanations about each individual product.

Plus CBD Oil and its parent company, CV Sciences, are committed to ensuring only the best products are brought to market and believe in thorough testing to ensure accuracy and purity. Ultimately, I consider Plus CBD to be a standout operating within the CBD industry, and its dedication to product offerings, manufacturing processes, and customers is commendable.

Finding The Ultimate CBD Hemp Oil Business Opportunity To Work From Home or Anywhere

Are you looking to make some extra income or even start your own full-time business?

That’s what this page is all about.

What to Look for in a Work-From-Home Opportunity

Here are some things to look for in a work-from-home business or income opportunity:

  • Low start-up costs
  • No special equipment needed
  • No need to hire employees
  • Can run from home – no need to rent office or retail space
  • Can set your own hours and work part-time or full-time
  • No inventory required
  • No special skills or education required
  • Credit score or history not important
  • No financing required
  • Products not based on fads
  • High-quality products or services that people want to buy again and again

That last item is one that many people overlook.

They understand the quality part, but often miss the “again and again” part.

It’s much better to sell products that people buy on a recurring basis than products people buy once or very rarely (like a car).

That is much easier than having to find a new customer for every sale.

If you’re ready to discover an opportunity that meets all the above criteria, one that I chose to pursue only after careful research, then keep reading.

What Is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil is extracted from the hemp plant.

The plant has been used for thousands of years to produce cloth, paper, and rope, among other things.

In modern times, it’s used in everything from car parts to cosmetics, food, supplements, and medicine.

Hemp seeds have been used throughout history as food, mostly for animals.

More recently the seeds and oil are being used as ingredients in baked goods, smoothies, salad dressings, and many other food products, due to its nutritional benefits.

The Benefits of Hemp Oil

Hemp oil is considered a superfood.

It contains a balanced 1:3 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids.

This is more than any fish and most fish oil supplements.

These fatty acids boost your body’s immune system.

You can use hemp oil in cooking like you would use any other vegetable oil.

It’s the only one that contains those fatty acids.

Hemp oil can lower cholesterol, moderate blood sugar level, fight inflammation in the body, and helps maintain your hormonal balance.

Hemp oil’s high concentration of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids make it great for the skin and a popular ingredient in cosmetics and skin care products.

It’s an excellent natural moisturizer and emollient.

Hemp oil increases skin elasticity and your cells’ ability to retain water.

It is especially useful for tired, dry, or dehydrated skin and nails.

It’s often used in hair conditioners for this reason.

Is there Really A Hemp Boom?

There was a great article written by The Business Insider that covered the topic with clear analysis and data, they said:

The North American marijuana market posted $6.7 billion in revenue in 2016, up 30% from the year before, according to a report from Arcview Market Research, a leading publisher of cannabis market research.

The so-called green rush shows no sign of slowing down.

Arcview projects sales will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 25% through 2021, when the North American market is expected to top $20.2 billion.

“The only consumer industry categories I’ve seen reach $5 billion in annual spending and then post anything like 25% compound annual growth in the next five years are cable television (19%) in the 1990s and the broadband internet (29%) in the 2000s,” Tom Adams, editor in chief of Arcview Market Research, said in a statement.

Why Become A Distributor With The Same Hemp Oil Company I Chose?

First and foremost, the products are high-quality.

In an industry where consumers are concerned about quality, this is extremely important.

The company’s products combine pure hemp oil and other all-natural ingredients to create daily use CBD supplements.

All of the company’s hemp oil products are made with non-GMO hemp grown free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides and put through a very thorough testing process to ensure reliability and protect the end user from contamination.

Even more impressive is how the company is connected to the first publicly traded Cannabis company in the United States (big deal!).

They were also the first to establish a global CBD pipeline across the globe; the first to deliver cannabis brands across U.S. State lines and International borders, making cannabidiol available across 50 states, and in dozens of countries; and it’s the first direct sale company to offer cannabis products.

This company gives back to the community through a social project that is touching the lives of children and families across the globe and provides support for special case families and individuals that count on cannabinoids.

Lastly, the compensation plan is killer!

Lots of opportunity to earn.

The key is you’ll get out of your business what you put into it.

How You Can Make Money With A Hemp MLM Business

There are two main ways to profit with a CBD Hemp MLM business:

  • Sharing the products with your friends and family
  • Signing up other active business builders / distributors

Here’s where the hemp MLM company we partnered with shines.

There are many companies with generous compensation plans, but most of them have a serious flaw: Very few people want the actual products!

Those companies end up becoming a bunch of people recruiting people to recruit people to recruit people… The problem with that is that eventually, they run out of people to recruit.

Even though there are billions of people on the planet, these companies are mathematically unsustainable in the long term.

Someone has to want to buy the products without caring about recruiting other people!

This is what I love about the company we chose – the products are so good, and they’re the type of products that real customers buy on a recurring basis, so this “infinite recruiting” problem doesn’t happen.

Nutritional supplements and skin care products made with top-quality Hemp Oil are the types of things that many customers keep buying.

Many people try our premium hemp oil products, fall in love with them, and reorder again and again.

If you’re their hemp oil distributor, that’s great for you, because you keep getting paid on that customer as long as they keep buying.

Brookstone cbd pillow

[EDITOR’S UPDATE, November 4, 2:20PM PST. Added one customer’s comments and review information below. A clarification was also made regarding the CBD oil’s infusion into the memory foam, not the pillow cover.]

With CBD now being more popular online than Jesus, The Beatles, Beyonce, or Pornhub, it’s no surprise that weed’s second-most famous molecule is ending up in everything from deodorant to cosmetics to sports bras. Now, you can add pillows to that list, too.

Offered by the bedding company Brookstone, the company’s “CBD-Infused Bed Pillow” is currently available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, giving a whole new meaning to that “Beyond” category.

According to the product description, “CBD oil is infused into the pillow,” presumably directly into its 100-percent memory foam material. The product is supposed to help people get a good night’s rest, but let’s unpack that, shall we?

Some studies suggest CBD, a non-intoxicating component of weed, can alleviate anxiety and combat insomnia. But CBD oil applied topically will only affect the outer layer of the skin and hair. There’s some evidence that CBD can facilitate skin healing or hair repair, but more research is needed to confirm these properties.

The best way to get CBD oil from the skin into the bloodstream (where it could encourage better sleep) is with transdermal carriers mixed into the oil. Naturally, oils extracted from weed won’t penetrate the outer skin layers without some additional chemistry.

Yet, nowhere in Brookstone’s or Bed, Bath, and Beyond’s listings mentions if the pillow’s CBD oil contains transdermal agents. In other words, without transdermal additives, like direct application emu oil, the only way this pillow is going to help you sleep is if you suck on it or smoke it. Neither of which are activities you’d do with a pillow.

Gallery — Feel-Good CBD Memes You Can’t Get High On:

What’s the pillow actually like? Professional budtender and cannabis events strategist Andrew Mieure bought one and tried it out. Here’s what he had to say (though, to be fair, he’s only tried it for one night, so far).

“I was left with a stiff neck and a strange smell in my nose,” he told MERRY JANE over text. “Decent quality pillow, albeit, too firm for my liking. The CBD had zero noticeable calming or well-being effects.”

As for the smell, Mieure described it as “manufactured rubber and synthetics.” He added, “It needs to be aired out when it first comes out of the package. It does not smell herbal, or cannabis-like in any way.”

The packaging states that the CBD oil is infused directly into the pillow’s memory foam material, not in the pillow cover. So, the oil is not making direct contact with the skin, most likely.

Another issue with this CBD pillow is that it’s probably a one-shot deal. As in, once you pop it in the laundry after a few weeks of use (you do regularly wash your pillows, right?), you’ll probably wash out whatever CBD oil was infused into the memory foam.

With a listing price of $60, you’re basically paying for an expensive pillow that may or may not freshen your skin. And whether it does or doesn’t, the CBD is going to wash out the second you put it in the washing machine.

For $60, you can realistically buy a whole bottle of potent, CBD-rich tincture, which would likely last much, much longer and work lightyears better than this gimmicky pillow.

Okay, the CBD craze has officially gone to people’s heads.

You’ve probably heard about the therapeutic relief that cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating compound found in the cannabis plant, may offer for various conditions, from chronic pain to anxiety issues. While many people could benefit from using CBD, they may be reluctant to try it due to the fear of failing a drug test or the general stigma that still surrounds cannabis in some places.

While CBD does not produce the same intoxicating effects as THC, it does get stored in the body. Most cannabis drug tests only screen for THC, but some people may still want to know how long does CBD stay in your system?

Despite the legalization of hemp-derived CBD products in the U.S. thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, there is still a need for further research into how CBD interacts with the body, as well as the amount of time it remains detectable in the body after use.

However, using existing research on CBD and its interaction with the human body, we can attempt to better understand how long CBD oil stays in the system.

How long does CBD oil stay in your system?

The time that CBD remains detectable in the body will depend on several factors:

  • Metabolism: A person’s metabolism plays a prominent role in how fast the CBD is metabolized and eventually excreted from the body. Another aspect that could impact the effects of CBD is whether it’s taken with food or on an empty stomach, as certain foods could enhance bioavailability and increase overall CBD concentration in your body.
  • Frequency of Use: How often CBD is used will also influence the amount of time it remains in the body.
  • CBD Dosage: The amount of CBD taken at a time will influence how long the cannabinoid remains in the system.
  • Method of Administration: Both the effects and presence of CBD in the body are also contingent on how the cannabinoid was introduced into the body. For instance, smoking or vaping CBD allows it to take effect almost immediately, while ingestion will delay the onset for an hour or two.

In a randomized, double-blind, controlled 2005 study published in “Therapeutic Drug Monitoring,” volunteers were given cannabis extract with 2.5 milligrams of THC and 1.35 milligrams of CBD. The research team found that CBD was only detectable in the blood for up to nine hours after ingestion.

A 1991 study published in “Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior” examined the concentration of CBD in the blood after high doses daily. Over a six-week period, the research team administered a daily dose of 700 milligrams of CBD to 14 Huntington’s disease patients. One week after the dosing ceased, the CBD remaining in the blood was just 1.5 nanograms per milliliter and was “virtually undetectable” thereafter.

A 2018 review of existing CBD studies found that the estimated half-life of CBD was two to five days for those who took a daily oral dose. Other delivery methods delivered varied half-lifes.

While the time that CBD is detectable in the body will depend on the aforementioned factors, we can deduce that CBD will likely leave the system after a week or two. Photo by: Gina Coleman/Weedmaps

While the time that CBD is detectable in the body will depend on the aforementioned factors, we can deduce that CBD will likely leave the system after a week or two.

That provides some insight into how long CBD remains in the blood, but there is little research on how long is CBD detectable in urine. In a 2016 study reported in the “Journal of Pain,” participants were given different types of CBD-rich cannabis products, including oils, capsules, and flower. Two hours after administration, urine samples from all 15 subjects tested positive for CBD. The researchers followed one participant after the last day of administration and found that CBD was no longer detectable in the urine after 24 hours.

It’s important to note that, while existing evidence shows us that CBD can definitely be detected in the body for a certain period of time, most cannabis drug tests specifically look for the presence of THC. Therefore, accurate information on how long CBD stays in the body remains limited compared with THC.

How long do CBD oil effects last?

Consumption method plays a crucial role in determining how long it will take to feel the effects of CBD and how long they will last.

Ingestion

Ingestion is the most common method for CBD consumption. Administering a couple of drops of CBD oil directly into the mouth is certainly a convenient way to reap the benefits of this therapeutic cannabinoid. However, ingestion is not necessarily the most effective consumption method for those who want to feel the effects of CBD immediately. Swallowing the oil prevents CBD from entering the bloodstream right away, sending it first through the digestive tract and eventually onto the liver, where it is broken down before finally reaching the bloodstream.

Studies show that when CBD compounds are metabolized by the liver, they undergo what is called the “first pass effect,” where enzymes in the liver reduce CBD concentration before the remainder is finally sent to the bloodstream and circulated throughout the body. While oral consumption of CBD has become popular for its ease of use, it’s a rather inefficient method of consumption compared with inhalation or sublingual administration. This is because only about 5% of swallowed CBD ends up in the bloodstream, meaning this method provides low bioavailability.

With ingestion, it could take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours before the effects of CBD finally set in. Photo by: Gina Coleman/Weedmaps

Image lightbox

Whether you’re ingesting CBD oil or CBD-infused edibles, it ultimately goes through the same lengthy digestive process and reduces the total CBD concentration in the bloodstream. With ingestion, it could take anywhere from one to two hours before the effects of CBD finally set in.

Sublingual

The sublingual method is considered to be more effective than ingestion. CBD oil can be consumed sublingually by placing a few drops under the tongue and holding it for two to four minutes, then using the tongue to rub it into the inside of the cheeks before swallowing the remainder. Using this method, CBD is transferred to the bloodstream via the mucous membranes located in the mouth, completely bypassing the digestive system and liver. Sublingual consumption leads to higher bioavailability compared to oral ingestion.

Inhalation

Inhalation is also an effective delivery method for CBD due to its rapid absorption and the efficiency of the lungs at transferring CBD into the bloodstream (better bioavailability). Whether you’re smoking a high-CBD strain or taking a draw from a CBD vape pen, the interaction with the body remains the same. When CBD is inhaled, the cannabinoids are sent directly to the lungs, where they are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and put into circulation.

Existing evidence suggests that CBD reaches peak blood concentration within three minutes after inhalation, meaning the effects can be felt shortly after use. Accordingly, this method is appealing for those seeking immediate pain relief.

Topical

Topical CBD comes in many forms: infused into lotions, creams, salves, and other health and wellness products. It can be applied directly to the skin where it may be absorbed through the surface of the skin and interact with localized cannabinoid receptors. In certain cases, CBD-infused topicals should be applied liberally to overcome the low cannabinoid absorption rate of the skin.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

In most cases, it’s highly unlikely that CBD oil will cause a positive test result in a drug screening. Most drug tests are developed to look specifically for the presence of THC or related substances. On top of that, employers generally abide by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) guidelines, which include detection for THC but not CBD.

Keep in mind that even hemp-derived CBD products are legally allowed to contain up to 0.3% THC. This could cause hesitation in some CBD-curious consumers who don’t want THC in their system or to risk a false positive result on a potential drug test. However, the chances of failing a drug test from using hemp-extracted CBD oil are extremely slim. You would need to take an exorbitant dosage of full-spectrum CBD oil (estimates range from 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams per day) to risk a positive drug test result.

For those who want to be extra-cautious and utilize CBD with no THC, a broad-spectrum oil or products that contain pure CBD isolate should do the trick. Broad-spectrum oil is refined to exclude THC, while CBD isolates contain no THC or other plant-based cannabinoids. To ensure that your CBD contains no THC, it’s important to source products from reputable manufacturers that provide a certificate of analysis from a third-party testing lab.

There are different types of drug tests with varying detection thresholds for THC. The most commonly used drug screening method is the urine test, which typically has a lower threshold for detection. Under the SAMHSA framework, the cutoff limit for the presence of THC is 50 nanograms per milliliter. A nanogram is one-billionth of a gram.

In the rare case that you test positive for THC after taking CBD oil, you can always try to explain the situation to your employer or request another test.

How Long Does CBD Oil Stay in Your System? Everything You Need to Know

CBD products have exploded in popularity and availability in the past two years.

This trendy chemical, also known as cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid produced in the cannabis plant.

Hemp-derived products must contain less than 0.3% THC to be considered legal, as stipulated in the 2018 US Farm Bill. THC and CBD are both cannabinoids found in marijuana. This connection can be worrisome for CBD users.

THC is used for medicinal and recreational purposes, and it makes people feel high. CBD doesn’t. It can cause mild sedation, but this effect only occurs when someone takes a very large dose.

Because CBD and THC come from the same plant, the possibility of failing a drug test is a valid concern. It’s common for people to wonder, “How long does CBD stay in your system?”

How Does CBD Affect People?

CBD has many effects on a person’s body and mind. Users will typically experience a calming effect and a general feeling of well-being.

Dr. Robert Flannery, CEO of Dr. Robb Farms, told Public Goods that CBD triggers the serotonin receptors in the brain and increases one of our endocannabinoids, anandamide. Serotonin and anandamide are widely-known for reducing anxiety and promoting calmness.

Serotonin is a naturally produced chemical in our bodies. It is often referred to as the ‘happy chemical.’ Anandamide is an endogenous compound (a compound produced within the body) that can bind to our endocannabinoid receptors. Anandamide regulates our motivation and pleasure, especially in social settings.

How Long Does CBD Stay in Your System?

The CBD compound is a fat-soluble molecule, and it can store in our fat cells for up to 30 days. It’s important to remember that everyone is different, and various factors will contribute to the matter at hand. One of those factors is the type of CBD product and how you consume it.

CBD Flower and Vaporizers

When you inhale CBD by smoking or vaporizing, it enters your lungs within mere seconds, resulting in a rapid onset. This method of consumption allows the medication to leave your system quickly.

Through this mode of consumption, you will feel the effects in less than five minutes. These two forms of CBD are ideal for anxiety and panic attacks because they provide calming effects so quickly. Inhalation is also beneficial for near-immediate pain relief.

Depending on dosage, frequency of use and metabolism, you can expect the CBD to fully flush from your system within 2-5 days.

Topicals

Topicals come in a variety of forms. There are lotions, balms, body butter, salves and transdermal patches. They are applied directly onto the part of your body that is hurting.

Unlike other consumption methods, topicals do not lead to a full-body experience. They only treat localized pain. Depending on the type of topical, they can take effect anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours after application.

The pain relief usually lasts 6-8 hours, with the exception of transdermal patches that offer longer-lasting relief — up to 96 hours, depending on the product.

Some topicals can only cross the skin and muscle barrier without entering the bloodstream, meaning they will not be in your system at all. Transdermal patches are placed on one of your veins and they do enter the bloodstream. The CBD delivered into your body may stay in your system for approximately 2-5 days.

Tinctures

CBD tinctures are similar to CBD oil, aside from the fact that they’re alcohol-based. They are made by steeping cannabis flowers or isolates in grain alcohol, then applying low heat to the mixture.

The end result is a potent tincture. Tinctures are always alcohol-based, and oils are always oil-based. Tinctures are meant to be taken sublingually.

If you’re attempting to use a tincture sublingually, you will want to hold the liquid beneath your tongue, or even swish it around your inner-cheeks, until it’s fully dissolved. Your mucous membranes absorb the majority of the CBD.

Most users claim CBD tinctures take effect within 15-30 minutes. And they’ll wear off after 4-6 hours. Because of their somewhat rapid onset, they are known to leave the system within 1-7 days.

Edibles, CBD Oil and Capsules

Whether you’re indulging in CBD gummies, oil or capsules, they all undergo the same lengthy digestive process.

When you ingest CBD, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours before feeling any effects. If you dose on an empty stomach, it tends to take effect quicker.

Let’s dive deeper into the question, “How long does CBD oil stay in your system?” Are you swallowing the oil or administering it sublingually? Sublingual use is defined by holding the CBD oil beneath your tongue for several minutes or until it’s fully dissolved. This method has higher bioavailability and will take effect much faster.

Typically, ingested CBD oil or edibles will be out of your system in 1-2 weeks. If you choose sublingual use, you can expect to be CBD-free in less than one week.

Metabolism, Dosage and Frequency: Factors That Determine How Long CBD Stays In Your System

There are many individual-specific factors that determine how long CBD will stay in your system.

Dr. Flannery told us that a person’s body weight doesn’t really change how long CBD will stay in your system. The leading contributors are metabolism, dosage and frequency of use.

Because CBD stores in our fat cells, it can take up to 30 days to eliminate from the body.

Someone with a fast metabolism has smaller fat stores, thus a smaller storage capacity for CBD that won’t be immediately processed through the liver. If you have a fast metabolism, CBD will remove itself from your system faster than someone with a slower, sluggish metabolism.

“The size of the dose plays a lot into how long CBD stays in our bodies,” Dr. Flannnery explained. “Let’s assume an average person consumes 5 mg. 24 hours later, there will be 2.5 mg of CBD in that person’s system. 48 hours after the initial dose, there will be 1.25 mg still in their system. But what if instead of 5 mg, someone were to consume 20 mg of CBD? It would take 48 hours just to get back down to 5 mg, assuming the individual hasn’t continued dosing.”

While the type of CBD product you use factors into how long it will stay in your system, Dr. Flannery described a general guide for figuring out when you would test clean for CBD. The dosage you’re taking affects the time CBD stays in your system. But what about frequency of use?

Dr. Flannery explained that if someone samples CBD once, it will soon clear their system. Weekly users encounter the issue of using before their last dose flushes out of their body. And CBD will never fully purge from a daily consumer’s system.

Exercise and how we eat matters, too. Regular exercise is known to speed up our metabolism. Every time we eat, digest and store food, our metabolism gets a boost. This process is called the thermic effect of food.

Remember that protein helps speed up our metabolism more so than fats and carbohydrates, because it takes longer for our bodies to burn protein and fully absorb it.

Will CBD Show Up On A Drug Test?

Another big question you might be wondering is, ”How long is CBD detectable in urine?” Many places of employment mandate random drug tests for their employees, just as they do amid the hiring process.

For certain jobs, there’s a good chance you will have to provide urine or blood for a drug test. So, will CBD show up on one of these drug tests? What about the trace amounts of THC inside of hemp-derived CBD oil?

Well, it depends on how much and how often you are dosing, the form of CBD and whether you’re using CBD isolate, broad-spectrum CBD oil or full-spectrum CBD oil.

Dr. Flannery touched on a common theory. He said oral consumption (capsules, edibles, swallowing oil) is more likely to cause a positive drug test due to CBD converting into THC in acidic environments, like our stomachs.

“However, the science behind this doesn’t seem to support the hypothesis, in my opinion,” he said.

The research he referenced is from a study in 2016 that used animals as test subjects. The research team used a simulated version of stomach fluids. One year later, two scientists proclaimed that there is no enzyme in the human body that would allow for conversion.

Dr. Flannery explained the likelihood of THC showing up on a drug test.

“Unless you are consuming CBD isolate, there’s a good chance that there may be some THC in your system, even if it’s minuscule amounts. If you are taking CBD on a regular basis, the chances of you failing a drug test are higher because the minute quantities of THC can accumulate over time.”

It’s also important to remember that at-home urine drug tests do not test for cannabidiol. Drug tests look for THC and its metabolites, THCA and THC-COOH. Tests that are sent to a lab — urine or blood tests — may be checking for CBD, but it’s highly unlikely.

The half-life of THC and its metabolites play an important role in the outcome of a drug test. When referring to the half-life, we’re specifically talking about the time needed to eliminate half of the active elements of the substance. However, there’s no exact science to determining the half-life of THC and THC metabolites. The answer also depends on individual factors such as metabolism and dosage amount, as well as the type of drug test.

CBD Isolate vs Full-Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum

When hemp-derived products became legal, the bill stated that CBD oil and other CBD products could not contain more than 0.3% THC. The trace amounts of THC inside the majority of CBD products are probably your main concern. Learning the difference between CBD isolate, full-spectrum and broad-spectrum will help you decide which is best-suited for you.

CBD Isolate

If you have a drug test coming up, you may opt to use a CBD isolate. Isolates have two benefits: they are more helpful for people seeking a stronger dose of just cannabidiol, and isolates contain no THC.

CBD isolate is an extracted product where everything but the cannabidiol has been removed. In other words, the CBD has been isolated. If you want the assurance of knowing you will pass a THC drug test, an isolate is a safe option.

Full-Spectrum

Full-spectrum CBD oil contains all of the cannabinoids, none of them are extracted. In total, there are 113 cannabinoids, with CBD and THC being the most researched. Full-spectrum CBD boasts the entourage effect — all of the cannabinoids working together to provide the most relief and betterment, with THC included.

Broad-Spectrum

And that brings us to broad-spectrum CBD. It undergoes a refining process where unwanted cannabinoids can be removed from the formula. Most CBD companies selling this product offer the same oil as full-spectrum, minus the THC. This is another safe option for people expecting a drug test.

If you have medical marijuana certification, you can use any form of CBD or THC, as long as it’s legal in your state. Bring your medical marijuana card with you when you are going for your drug test. Your card is proof that you’re legally allowed to have these cannabinoids in your system.

In Your System, Out of Trouble

We advise you to use CBD safely. If you think a drug test may be in your near future, err on the side of caution and stick with broad-spectrum or isolates.

You also want your dose to be effective. Taking too much CBD can cause sedation. If you’re a new user, start with 2-5 mg and see how you feel.

If that amount doesn’t help the condition you’re trying to treat, raise the dose in small increments every few hours until you find what dosage works best for you. CBD is a person-dependent medication; everyone reacts differently.

CBD is a natural, holistic option compared to over-the-counter pain medications or prescription opioids. Once you find your favorite form and the proper dose, you will see that using CBD can make life seem just a little bit brighter.

That provides some insight into how long CBD remains in the blood, but there is little research on how long is CBD detectable in urine. It’s important to note that, while existing evidence shows us that CBD can definitely be detected in the body for a certain period of time, most cannabis drug tests specifically look for the presence of THC. Therefore, accurate information on how long CBD stays in the body remains limited compared with THC.

How Long Does CBD Stay in Your System?

CBD typically stays in your system for 2 to 5 days, but that range doesn’t apply to everyone. For some, CBD can stay in their system for weeks.

How long it hangs around depends on several factors.

There are a few variables to consider when thinking about how long CBD stays in your system.

How much you use

As with most other substances, the higher the dose, the longer CBD will stay in your system.

How often you use it

The frequency of your usage also determines how long CBD stays in your body. CBD builds up in your body over time, if used regularly. This is why it’s recommended you use it for at least a week to see if it works for you.

If you only use it occasionally, it’ll clear your system faster.

Your body

Everyone’s body is different. That’s why CBD and other substances affect people differently.

Your body mass index, water content, and metabolism are just some of the things that can influence how long CBD stays in your system.

What you eat, how much you eat, and when you eat matter. If you take CBD on an empty stomach, it gets metabolized and eliminated faster than it does when you take it on a full stomach, which slows its digestion.

Method of use

There are a few ways to take CBD. The method you use affects everything from the onset and duration of effects to how long it stays in your body.

Different forms of CBD include:

  • oils and tinctures
  • pills and capsules
  • edibles
  • vaping
  • creams and lotions

When you vape CBD (which you should avoid for now), it enters your lungs and takes effect quickly, and also leaves the body quickly. Oils and tinctures placed under your tongue are absorbed into the bloodstream faster and linger longer.

Your digestive system metabolizes edible forms of CBD, which can take a while. Creams and lotions are also slow to get into and out of the body.

It varies based on all the same factors that influence how long CBD stays in your system.

The form used, dosage, and your body composition all play a role and make it hard to predict how quickly CBD will kick in or how it will affect you.

Generally, you can begin to feel the effects of CBD within 15 minutes of vaping or using it sublingually. Edibles and topical products can take as long as an hour or two to kick in.

Again, it all depends on your body, how much you take, and how you take it. But generally, the effects of CBD can last from 2 to 6 hours.

CBD typically won’t show up on a drug test, but if your CBD product contains THC, it will. THC is marijuana’s main active ingredient. It’s the one responsible for the “high” effect.

Many CBD products contain trace amounts of THC. Depending on the composition and quality of a product, you could have a positive drug test result.

If you’re concerned about THC levels, be mindful of the type of CBD products you choose. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Full-spectrum CBD.Full-spectrum CBD extracts contain all of the naturally occurring compounds from the plant they’re extracted from, including THC.
  • Broad-spectrum CBD. This is similar to full-spectrum CBD, but it goes through a process to eliminate THC.
  • CBD isolate. This option contains only CBD.

If going with a full-spectrum CBD, look for hemp-derived CBD instead of one that’s marijuana-derived. Hemp-derived CBD is legally required to contain less than 0.3 percent THC.

How long CBD stays in your system depends on a range of factors.

What to know about CBD oral sprays

Cannabidiol (CBD) is an increasingly popular ingredient for people seeking alternative remedies for various conditions, including chronic pain. CBD comes in the form of oral sprays, as well as edibles and topical products.

Cannabis plants contain compounds called cannabinoids. The two best-known cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and CBD.

THC can lead to psychological effects and the “high” that people frequently associate with cannabis. CBD, however, does not produce the same psychoactive effects. It might, on the other hand, have numerous potential health benefits.

Various forms of CBD exist, including oils, gummies, topicals, and oral sprays. However, it is important to note that availability may vary from state to state, and that it is currently illegal to sell CBD food products or dietary supplements. People can learn more about the regulation of CBD products here.

Keep reading to learn more about the effects and potential benefits of CBD oral sprays. This article also covers how this form of CBD compares with others that are available.

Share on Pinterest CBD oral sprays are faster-acting than CBD edibles, such as gummies.

CBD products are available in many forms, including oral sprays.

Sprays involve a tincture of CBD extract and ethanol alcohol. The alcohol helps extract the cannabinoids. An oral spray dispenses directly into the mouth, either under the tongue or inside the cheek.

Although the research into CBD’s use as a remedy for various conditions is ongoing, studies that support CBD’s purported benefits are currently limited.

The following conditions may benefit from CBD use.

Anxiety

There are anecdotal reports of people who use CBD experiencing anxiety-reducing effects. CBD may also help counteract the anxiety-producing effects linked to high levels of THC.

However, existing studies into the effects of CBD on anxiety involve only small groups of participants. Further research may help clarify the potential link between the two.

Chemotherapy side effects

People undergoing chemotherapy for cancer may experience nausea and vomiting. Doctors usually prescribe antiemetics to counteract these unpleasant side effects.

A 2018 study found that CBD limited a surge of serotonin levels in the interoceptive insular cortex (IIC) of rats that received injections of a nausea-inducing chemical compound.

The IIC region of the human brain is responsible for nausea. Therefore, the findings suggest that it may be possible for scientists to develop a CBD-based antinausea treatment for people receiving chemotherapy treatment.

One 2019 review also suggests that cannabinoids may help prevent other adverse effects associated with chemotherapy, including poor appetite and pain. That said, the evidence in this area is weak.

Chronic pain

There is evidence to suggest that cannabinoids may help with pain relief, but few studies exist on CBD specifically.

A 2018 review took into account 48 studies on using cannabinoids and cannabis for the relief of chronic non-cancer-related pain.

The authors suggest that there is moderate evidence pointing to the pain-relieving effects of cannabinoids compared with a placebo. However, people using cannabinoids were also more likely to experience adverse effects than those taking the placebo.

A more recent study analyzed the evidence surrounding the benefits and harms of medical cannabinoids in the treatment of chronic non-cancer-related pain. At 2 weeks, there was “moderate evidence” to support the use of cannabinoids in treating this type of pain.

A 2019 review supports the use of a combined THC and CBD oral spray called nabiximols (Sativex) for multiple sclerosis-related pain. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have not yet approved this spray for use.

One randomized controlled trial from 2020 suggests a link between topical cannabidiol oil and relief from peripheral neuropathy-related pain. However, the study only looked into topical CBD use, not the use of oral sprays.

Although current evidence does not fully support the use of CBD for relief from chronic pain, new research and clinical trials are on the horizon. For example, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health are funding further research on the subject.

Epilepsy

Currently, the FDA have only approved a single drug containing CBD. Epidiolex is a treatment option for severe forms of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Clinical trials found that when people with these conditions take Epidiolex with other seizure drugs, they experience fewer seizures than those taking a placebo in addition to seizure medications.

However, there has been little research into the benefits of CBD for milder, more common forms of epilepsy.

Addiction

Limited evidence suggests that CBD may help people with substance abuse disorder by curbing compulsive behaviors.

A 2018 animal study found that CBD reduced relapse in rats for 5 months.

One study from 2019 found that CBD may help people with heroin use disorder by reducing cravings and anxiety.

Some studies also suggest that CBD may help people with post-traumatic stress disorder by reducing insomnia and nightmares.

Although this preliminary research is encouraging, more studies are necessary to establish conclusive evidence.
