What Are the Benefits of Using Lip Balm with CBD?

CBD oil lip balm is a hot new product right now and more and more satisfied customers swear by its benefits. Unlike traditional lip balms, a quality CBD hemp oil-infused lip balm comes with added benefits thanks to CBD’s anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

But before diving into CBD lip balm benefits and why you should turn it into your go-to product especially in very cold or windy conditions, let’s see why CBD, cannabidiol, is (still) so controversial.

*A quick note: If you’re simply looking for a great organic CBD lip balm with no THC or marijuana, I’d highly recommend Kino’s Coconut Mango flavor. You can buy it here.

The CBD Controversy

Hemp and cannabis-derived beauty products have gained more and more traction in recent years as the American public has become more accustomed to CBD oil’s perks when applied topically. Plus, in less than a decade, tremendous progress has been made toward hemp farming legalization. State by state, law makers are embracing the benefits of CBD both to the body and the economy.

In 2014, when the U.S. Congress passed legislation that allowed state farmers to grow and harvest hemp locally through pilot programs, CBD oil products started to permeate faster the U.S. market as manufacturers no longer had to rely exclusively on hemp imports.

With the 2018 farm bill, federal lawmakers lifted the 82-year-old ban on hemp farming in the United States, opening a market that it’s expected to jump to 22 billion in the next three years.

However, despite their growing popularity, CBD hemp oil-based beauty products are still being frowned upon because people confuse hemp-derived CBD with its more potent cousin, the marijuana-derived CBD.

Even though hemp and marijuana belong to the same plant family, Cannabis Sativa, and have almost the same looks, industrial hemp comes with no THC or less than .3% per dry unit, which means that it won’t help you get high no matter how much you smoke or munch on it.

So the good news is that adding a CBD chapstick to your lips won’t mess with your perception of reality even if you are into the not-so-healthy habit of constantly licking your lips.

Chapped and Dry Lips: Causes and Best Treatment

Chapped, or severely dry, lips are usually caused by these factors:

Exposure to environmental factors, like very low temperatures, wind, or very dry and hot weather. These factors are unavoidable, so using CBD lip balm is our best way of combating them.
Dehydration, which means that you do not drink enough water for your body to function properly; dehydration can also be caused by excess alcohol consumption, sugary drinks, too much coffee, and drinks packed with tannins, like red wine, teas, and some types of fruit juice.
Nutrient deficiency – Vitamin B deficiency might explain cracked lips, rashes, and dry spots on the skin. Also, iron and zinc deficiencies are often behind chapped or unusually dry lips.
UV damage – Wearing no sun protection on your lips can lead to inflammation and dryness.
• Some drugs and supplements, like chemotherapy medication, antihistamines, or supplementation with retinoids and lithium.
Constantly licking your lips – which can only make dry lips worse.
Underlying medical condition – Split lips, especially in the corners might be a tell-tale sign of an underlying medical condition known as angular cheilitis.

Leaving dry and chapped lips untreated can lead to excess flaking, inflammation, soreness, swelling and even bleeding. In addition, there are diseases and ailments that can drastically affect the moisture levels and dryness in your lips.

In less severe cases, cracked and dry lips can be fixed by avoiding the said risk factors and promoting recovery through simple home remedies, such as aloe vera and a high-quality lip balm packed with strategically formulated ingredients to keep your lips healthy.

However, not all lip balms are created equal, and some of them can do more harm than good. In some cases, when the thin layer of product evaporates from the lips, the lip balm can make lips even drier, and you’ll feel the urge to reapply it compulsively. This is the case with most subpar lip balms.

Fortunately, that is not the case with CBD lip balms, as the CBD oil will seal moisture in your lips, preventing them from becoming dry or flaky.

CBD Lip Balm Benefits

Now let’s look at the CDB lip balm benefits. So, what does a CBD lip balm do and what makes it shine bright among conventional lip balms?

Besides leaving your lips smooth and shiny without getting them greasy, a quality CBD lip balm can also help alleviate tenderness and inflammation associated with dry, flaky, and cracked lips. There have also been reports by numerous users about using the lip balm on superficial cuts, which helped them heal faster. Kino’s lip balm is also packed with natural oils that help combat inflection that might occur in cuts or breaks in the skin.

Also, thanks to its healing-promoting properties, a CBD lip balm can work wonders on severely chapped lips with just a few applications, a feat unlikely to be pulled off by traditional lip balms.

As an added bonus, CBD hemp oil is packed with vitamins A, C, and E which promote healthy and glowing skin while slowing down the aging processes.

Besides the key ingredient– whole plant extract of hemp, our Organic Coconut Mango CBD Lip Balm is packed with moisturizing, soothing, and hydrating organic oils and plant butters that will keep your lips soft and silky smooth all day long. Because lips are so sensitive, we went out of our way to make sure our lip balm is the highest quality CBD lip balm on the market. It’s organic, vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free (Leaping Bunny Certified), toxic-free, solvent-free, herbicide-free, pesticide-free, chemical fertilizer-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, phthalates-free, and phosphates-free.

It is worth noting that lips lack oil glands, which means that they won’t produce protective oils on their own. This is why we have added organic coconut oil, organic jojoba seed oil, and organic argan oil – to name just a few – to our CBD lip balm to ensure that your lips stay hydrated throughout the day without the need of constantly reapplying the product.

What’s more, all our ingredients are sourced with the well-being of the environment in mind and the quality of each individual ingredient is top-notch so that both your body and the planet get the proper treatment they need.

One common problem with most commercial CBD lip balms is their weird taste or smell. Fortunately, we were able to address that issue too by enriching our lip balm with organic mango flavor oil to offer it a subtle mango taste and smell, which makes it one of the best-tasting lip balms with CBD on the market.

Also, the laundry list of organic plant oils and butters in our product is proof that you won’t put on your lips or in your body anything that is non-natural or toxic.

You can buy our Organic CBD Lip Balm below, or check out our full CBD product line here! We spent months formulating the Kino lip balm until our whole team agreed it was the best-tasting chapstick we’ve ever tried.

Okay, back to the science.

Before we dive into the scrumptious world of lips, let’s first explore the wonderful, magical herb, aka the cannabis plant.

There are well over 100 phytocannabinoids present in the cannabis plant, but the most commonly talked about and researched phytocannabinoids have been tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), amongst others.

The cannabis plant is a broad term hugging and including the hemp plant and marijuana plant. Think of cannabis as an ice cream cone and the marijuana plant is chocolate ice cream and the hemp plant is vanilla ice cream – you can pick and choose which flavor you want, you know?

Apply that concept to CBD now. Cannabidiol can be derived from the hemp plant or the marijuana plant. CBD that is hemp-derived contains 0.00% THC, commonly referred to as a broad-spectrum CBD . However, CBD that is marijuana-derived may contain 0.3% THC or greater can be referred to as full-spectrum CBD (it depends on the extraction processes that do or don’t occur).

THC is a compound within the cannabis plant that creates a “euphoric” effect or “high” feeling. CBD, on the other hand, does not get you “stoned” or have you feeling “high”.

Anyways, CBD is much like the sprinkles that go on top of the ice cream – you’ve picked your cone (cannabis), you’ve picked your flavor (vanilla hemp or chocolate marijuana), and now you’re ready for all the sprinkles (CBD). Yum! Ready to reap the benefits?

Much like how you get ice cream all over the place – your face, your shirt, dripping down your hands, cooling your esophagus as it goes down into your intestines, not to mention, your lips are too covered in ice cream. How does it feel? Is it sticky and dry?

So remember that CBD ice cream cone we just talked about? Hold onto snack that below!

What? How? Who even thought of this? Is this something we didn’t know we needed all along?

Before I answer that, let’s talk about lips first. Not sealed, ready to apply!

The lips are a central defining feature of our face, they look different than our surrounding facial skin. Similar to other features of your face, lips are affected by the aging process as well. Over time, your lips can become thin and flat, appearing “less attractive”.

Products that enhance and effectively protect your lips are desirable agents for everyone, right?

Severely crack or dry lips are usually caused by numerous factors:

  • Exposure to environmental factors

As a result of poor skin function, lips are highly exposed to environmental effects, including sun, wind, smoking, and changes in temperature.

  • Dehydration

If you aren’t drinking enough water for your bodily functions to work smoothly, you may be dehydrated. Dehydration may occur also by excess alcohol consumption or drinking too much coffee.

According to Trookman and colleagues, the red coloration of lips is believed to result from a combination of translucency of the tissue and a decreased density of keratin , allowing the underlying capillaries to be observed. Hence, red lips.

These factors may cause the lips to become chapped, dry, and dull in their natural reddish color.

We’ve got a pretty stable basis now of lips and just how important they are to our face.

So tell me more about CBD infused chapstick already!

When using a chapstick or lip balm “spiked” with CBD, the cannabinoids work alongside other ingredients to moisturize your dry and damaged lips (beeswax helps too here).

A triple-board certified dermatopathologist, Gretchen Frieling, MD , states, “With a well-made CBD chapstick, the CBD oil will seal moisture in your lips, preventing them from becoming dry or flaky.”

You can think of CBD chapstick as a topical lip balm. Much like how you can apply our Muscle & Joint Stick to your sore or injured areas, you can also apply the lip balm directly onto your dry and chapped lips. Simple!

Not likely. If the CBD chapstick is derived from the hemp plant it typically will have 0.00% THC. However, if the CBD is derived from a marijuana plant, it may have up to 0.0% – 0.3% THC. A very very minor trace, if so. Since CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, it won’t get you “high.”

Since all of Nanocraft’s broad spectrum hemp oil is third-party tested to contain 0.0% THC, there is zero chance you will experience a high of any kind. Unless having healthy lips is something that usually makes you high.

CBD infused lip balm does this by acting as an antibacterial and antioxidant. It can help the skin stabilize free radicals and better protect itself from elemental overexposure .

Ingredients matter. Does your chapstick have beeswax? Essential oils? Aloe vera? If you aren’t sure, I’ll take you chapstick shopping next time!

Look for cannabidiol chapsticks that have natural ingredients, beaming with benefits. We’ve got you covered. Essential oils? Check. Beeswax? Check. CBD? Check. Sunscreen Protection Factor (SPF)? Check. Aloe vera? Check.

CBD is an all-natural, non-toxic compound that has been consistently shown, across clinical studies, to be widely considered safe, generally well-tolerated by animals and humans alike, with no reinforcing attributes, with anti-anxiety, anti-depressive symptoms, and pain reducing agents.

It’s the parts that made up the whole, right? Each ingredient matters, when you bake a cake, for instance, so the same should go for your chapstick.

In a general sense, CBD extract lip balm works to moisturize dried and damaged lips. So what else is in chapstick?

Simply, beeswax comes from bees. The worker bees produce honeycombs of this wax in order to store the colony’s honey supply. Beeswax makes for a great base for lip balm because it’s a natural exfoliator as well as helping be a protective layer on the skin.

Aloe barbadensis, aloe vera, is a popular holistic medicine that has been around for centuries! The gel that is contained in the aloe vera plant is one of the most beneficial and bioactive compounds, including being rich in vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants.

It’s known for its antiseptic, antiviral, and antibacterial properties, helping treat wounds and skin irritations.

The wonderful thing about broad-spectrum CBD is that it contains 0.3% THC or less. You’ll reap all the benefits of the cannabidiol without the possibility of feeling a “high” from THC.

Our high bioavailability, nanoemulsified Pure Broad Spectrum CBD is a great option for those looking for a THC-free option.

Check out our selection of CBD oil drops.

You can think of vitamin E as being an Enormous powerhouse antioxidant. From helping protect your cells from damage to reducing free radical damage to slowing the aging process of your cells, vitamin E is stellar!

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) , vitamin E is involved in immune function, cell signaling, and other metabolic processes.

Obviously, every chapstick may contain different ingredients, depending on their target flavors, textures, etc.

It would be nearly impossible to find a CBD lip balm that contained only CBD. Most skincare products need something called a carrier. Here at Nanocraft CBD, we take pride in only utilizing the most natural ingredients possible.

We have found that utilizing beeswax and coconut oil as our carriers enables the broad-spectrum CBD to be held in place, allowing you to maximize the absorption of your application.

Now to the juicy goodness: Nanocraft CBD Lip Balm.

Our chapstick contains broad-spectrum CBD, derived from phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) hemp, providing with you antioxidant, antifungal, and antibacterial protection. Created with soothing botanicals to calm your skin, you’ll reap the benefits in more ways than one.

Our CBD Lip Balm is made with natural beeswax, vitamin E, aloe vera, shea butter, cocoa butter, mint flavoring, unique terpenes, and not to mention 25 mg of calming broad-spectrum hemp oil.

Here are four reasons Nanocraft CBD’s Lip Balm stands out from others:

We include all natural ingredients because we only want the best for you! Soybean oil, sunflower oil, and hemp oil create a beautiful blend of flavors, with all the hydrating nutrients.

Every product Nanocraft creates starts with our natural proprietary strains of phytocannabinoid-rich hemp. All of the hemp we use is grown in nutrient-rich soil in Colorado. Our farmers operate under strict guidelines and use only 100% organic practices.

We take advantage of a state-of-the-art farming process. Not only does this enhance the quality of our natural proprietary strains, but it also ensures our products are safe, regulated, and unsurpassed in their potency and consistency.

One of the most important steps in the process is to remove even the most minute traces of THC.

We use a proprietary technology to remove unwanted compounds still present in the oil. These compounds include wax, chlorophyll, plant pigments and trace amounts of THC. It is then “washed” and “polished” to create the highest quality, zero THC, broad-spectrum CBD oil available.

Nanocraft CBD Lip Balm is small, compact, and sleek in look. Customers rave over the convenient size and quick application. Not to forget to mention, the soothing, calming, minty taste!

Now that you’ve got the full run-around about cannabidiol infused lip balm, I can almost guarantee that you’re locked in and ready to give it a go!

If you’ve been thinking about making your leap into trying CBD, this is a great topical way to get yourself “smooching” into relaxation and hydration.

The lip balm benefits are there, the natural benefits are too, what’s holding you back?
