A Detailed Guide on How to Vape CBD Oil and Reap the Rewards
If you’ve finally decided to join the community of people embracing this alternative method of treatment — in other words, using CBD oil for anxiety, arthritis, insomnia, and many other ailments — then we welcome you to our comprehensive guide on how to vape CBD oil properly.
But, first of all, what is vaping?
In short, vaping is when you use an electronic device such as a “CBD vape pen” or a vaporizer pen to inhale vaporized liquid. There are many reasons why someone would prefer to vape CBD oil instead of simply ingesting it orally or applying it topically. For instance, due to being a more discreet, portable, and easy way of getting your daily CBD dosage.
Overall, this guide will teach you how to reap all of its amazing benefits, as this method for taking CBD may be the most unfamiliar for many.
So, without further ado, here is everything you need to know.
What Is CBD and How Does Vaping CBD Make You Feel
Cannabidiol, or better known as CBD, is derived from industrial hemp — a cannabis plant that has a maximum of 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Hence, full spectrum CBD provides consumers with all of the benefits of the flavonoids, phytochemicals, and terpenes without the feeling of “being high.”
Disclaimer: The benefits of vaping CBD oil are not 100% accurate due to the evidence and reports being limited. Nevertheless, it is considered a more effective method of taking CBD than topicals and yummy CBD gummies for certain states, seeing how inhalation provides the consumer with higher bioavailability.
Health Benefits of Knowing How to Vape CBD Oil Properly
Keep in mind that CBD affects each individual differently and that you should always consult with a medical professional prior to attempting to vape high-quality CBD oil for wellness and therapeutic purposes. Some of the benefits include:
- For the brain — antidepressant, anti-anxiety, neuroprotective, and antioxidant properties.
- For the stomach — appetite control and antiemetic properties.
- For the bones — strengthening and stimulating the growth of new bones.
- For the eyes — a vasorelaxant for glaucoma.
- For the heart — anti-inflammatory and anti-ischemic properties.
- For the muscles — effective against muscle fatigue after exercise.
Can Vaping CBD Hurt You?
Even though CBD comes with heaps of benefits, it also comes with potential downsides and risks. According to experts, these risks are mainly due to vaping unregulated products that may contain certain additives like pesticides.
Two of the most common additives that consumers need to stay clear of when choosing a CBD product for vaping is diacetyl, a chemical utilized by companies to create a butter-like flavor, and vitamin E acetate, a substance that has been the culprit of some 450 instances of respiratory illness related to vaping in America.
How to use a vape safely? Above all, the main issue when vaping CBD is purchasing shady products with mysterious ingredients (and origins) hidden inside vape pods or pens.
On a side note, CBD has also been shown to increase the levels of coumadin — a blood thinner in the body. Unfortunately, this can potentially lead to irritability and nausea. CBD has its share of side effects, especially when it comes to interacting with medications.
For this reason, don’t be tempted to start vaping without careful thought. If you are used to CBD, then by purchasing from reliable brands and double-checking the label on the product, you should be safe to go.
How Much CBD to Vape for the Best Results
Before doing anything else, you will have to determine the correct CBD dosage tailored to your own specific needs. Keep in mind that there are three main factors you need to take into consideration when purchasing a product. These three include:
- your body weight,
- the severity of your condition, or your overall health, and
- your particular body chemistry.
To make things easier, here is a CBD vape dosage chart to help you decide. Remember, always begin with a lower dosage, and if need be, slowly increase by 5mg intervals.
|Weight/Dosage||80–150 lbs||151–240 lbs||240 lbs|
How Much CBD Is there in One Puff?
In short, the amount of CBD in each puff varies from person to person and on the device being used. A typical 1ml CBD vape cartridge will provide between 100–200 puffs, and may contain around 200mg of CBD. This means that, per puff, you will get around 1–2mg of CBD.
How to Use Vape Devices
Novice users should start with the easiest option and go from there. We highly recommend beginners to start with pods, cartridges, and disposables, whereas refillable vape pens are best for more advanced vapers.
How to Use a CBD Pod
CBD pods are used with a JUUL battery, making them the most favorite vape on the marketplace. By putting in a CBD pod compatible with JUUL, users can easily swap between nicotine and CBD. Here are some easy steps on how to vape marijuana by using a CBD pod.
Step 1: Connect your pod to a JUUL battery.
Step 2: Once activated, begin by taking a single puff.
Step 3: Make sure to wait a couple of minutes between each puff and notice how you feel.
Hint: Begin slow and up the dose gradually. Also, you can check the life of the JUUL battery by tapping it two times.
How to Use a CBD Oil Cartridge
CBD oil cartridges are highly practical as they are already pre-filled with CBD distillate or CBD vape juice. Typically, they hold up to 1ml of CBD vape juice. So, how to inhale vape with a cartridge?
Step 1: Connect a 510 battery to your cartridge.
Step 2: To turn it on, click the “power” button 5 times.
Step 3: While inhaling, press the button.
Hint: Again, begin slow and as you start feeling more comfortable, take larger puffs. We always highly suggest to wait a couple of minutes between each puff (around 8 minutes) to observe how you are feeling.
How to Use a Disposable Vape Pen and a Refillable Vape Pen
Disposable CBD vape pens are considered the cheapest and easiest method of using CBD vape oil. Usually, these disposable pens can be used a couple of hundred puffs before emptying.
CBD vape pens that are refillable are excellent for more advanced users as they require maintenance. For instance, making sure the tank is clean and that the coil is changed regularly. Generally, these vape pens create more flavor and vapor than disposables but are on the more expensive side.
So, how to use a vape pen that’s disposable?
Step 1: Remove the vape from its packaging.
Step 2: Click on the “power” button and check whether the indicator light is on.
Step 3: Start by taking a small puff through the mouthpiece.
Step 4: Exhale. It’s as easy as that!
Hint: Shorter draws equal small doses. Not only does this help with finding out the tolerance level, but it also helps preserve the device longer.
How to put CBD oil in a vape pen and inhale it?
The answer is simple: the same way you would use a disposable vape pen, but of course you will be refilling the device with more E-liquid. Here is how to refill your device.
Step 1: Remove the old cartridge and discard it properly.
Step 2: Grab the brand-new cartridge and place it on the battery.
Step 3: Check whether the cartridge is attached safely.
Hint: Double check Step 3, since if the cartridge is not properly attached, the vapor production may be affected.
What is the Best Voltage for Vaping CBD Oil?
A frequent concern is determining the best voltage. We highly recommend you keep the range between 3.3–3.8 volts, as this is typically ideal for the majority of oil carts.
Nevertheless, do keep in mind that some cartridges that use coils and are ceramic-based can easily handle more voltage than others. Also, some will need more voltage to attain pleasurable puffs.
What About Wattage?
Now, if you were wondering what wattage to vape CBD e-liquid for the best experience, then bear in mind that we recommend keeping it between 10–30 watts. Try out the “adjust to taste” technique to easily determine the ideal wattage for you.
Begin your wattage as low as possible (for instance at 10 watts) and notice whether the amount of flavor and power is to your liking.
If you aren’t happy with it, then turn it up to 15 watts and begin the process again. This will also guarantee that you are using the CBD product to its full potential.
How Do You Inhale CBD Oil Vape?
The process is quite easy once you get the hang of it.
First and foremost, you will want to inhale the vapor into the lungs, as keeping it in the mouth will not be effective (at all). If you have never smoked before, then you may cough a bit.
This is especially true if you are about to vape a top-quality CBD e-liquid high in terpenes as it may cause irritation in the throat. If you have trouble with this, then we recommend mixing a tablespoon of honey into cool water and sipping on it prior to taking a puff, as well as after it.
Now, how to vape CBD oil in two different ways?
From the Mouth to the Lungs
Cigarette smokers do this all the time. First, you want to sip the substance into your mouth and then breathe it into your lungs. Notice how your lips are puckered when sipping. When you are all set to inhale, open your mouth slightly and take in a bit of fresh air.
Straight to the Lungs
This is a technique you will use with vape juice and CBD from a sub-ohm mod, as the concentration of the vapor is not as strong. Overall, you just breathe in the vapor and blow it out.
How to Do Vape Tricks
Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can slowly work your way to learning new and amazing tricks. Believe us, if you master these, you will definitely be the talk of the next party.
Blowing Vape Bubbles
This trick is fun and ideal if you have an old toilet paper roll laying around the house (if not, you can use any kind of tube). Start by dipping one end of the roll into soapy water, and after taking a big hit, exhale it slowly into the other end of the tube.
Waterfall Vape Trick
Wondering how to make a vape that creates a waterfall effect? This trick can be done by using a bottle with frozen water on its bottom.
Start by taking a drag and then carefully blow it into the bottle. Finally, amaze your friends and even yourself by slowly pouring it out.
Dragon Vape Trick
This trick involves exhaling vapor through the nose and the corners of the mouth at the same time.
To do this, start taking a long drag without inhaling. As you keep the vapor in your mouth, exhale it through your nose and some through the corners of the mouth at the same time.
We sincerely hope that this guide helped you understand the basics of how to vape CBD oil correctly. All you need to do now is start practicing. After all, practice makes perfect!
Also, imagine how awesome it would be to master vaping CBD and making a career out of it (of course, at the moment, you can only earn some cash by doing so).
In addition, don’t forget to share this guide with others that might need a bit of help getting started. Have a “dope” day!
How old do you have to be to vape legally?
E-cigarettes or vapes are said to be unsafe for young adults, teenagers, and children as the CDC states in their announcement.
Vaping statistics report tendencies among teenagers to use vape products, though they are not allowed to. The laws differ from state to state, but a person has to be at least 18 to be allowed to use a vape.
What is the best CBD oil vape pen starter kit?
For beginners and experts alike, we highly recommend the Vape Bright Starter Pack. It has everything you need to start vaping, including a charger, a case, a 200mg vape cartridge, and a battery.
Above all, its Thrive CBD vape cartridge holds pure CBD oil exclusively without any traces of dangerous vegetable glycerin or polypropylene glycol. The main reason we believe it is worth checking out is that each puff delivers exactly 1mg of CBD, which makes it perfect for dosing more accurately.
Other great vape kits include Pure Hemp Botanicals’ Pure Hemp CBD Oil Vape Kit (500mg) and the Basic CBD Starter Vape Kit by Cloud 9 Hemp.
Do you hold in CBD vape?
One of the biggest myths in the world of CBD vaping is that you need to hold a huge hit for at least 5 seconds to reap its benefits. According to cannabis activist, Mimi Peleg, it only takes a couple of milliseconds to get the cannabinoids absorbed into the blood.
Hence, there is no need to keep smoke that has tars, pollutants, and plant matter in the lungs for that long. Nevertheless, for maximum CBD effects, Peleg recommends inhaling the smoke deeply, as the deeper we breathe, the more our lungs get filled with CBD goodness (some 5 liters of air is the maximum capacity).
What is the best vape mod for CBD juice?
Sub-ohm tank mods are popular vaping devices capable of creating massive vapor clouds. You can recharge the mods, while some have batteries that are easily replaceable.
What makes vape mods special is that the choices of strengths and flavors are practically limitless! We’d recommend Horizon Falcon 2, a high-quality tank with a simple push-to-fill system and excellent coil options. Created from stainless steel, the maximum capacity of this device is 5.2 ml. Other honorable mentions include the OFRF nexMesh and SMOK TFV16.
If you buy top-quality products, vaping CBD brings health benefits. Beginners can learn how to vape CBD oil, and the more experienced will learn a few tricks.
A Beginner’s Guide To CBD Vaping
Beginner’s Guide To CBD Vaping
You’ve no doubt heard about CBD vaping. CBD is being hailed as a wonder-drug that can cure all kinds of ailments, but what exactly is it, and why does vaping CBD eliquid seem to be so effective in treating several ailments? And how can it be vaped? Don’t worry, in this beginner’s guide we’ll tell you everything you need to know and where to start with vaping CBD.
What Is CBD?
Put simply, CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the many chemical compounds found in marijuana. There are over a hundred of these active cannabinoids, including the most well-known of all, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is the psychoactive component in cannabis, the ingredient that gets users high. Unlike THC, CBD does not make the user high but is recognized as having many medicinal properties, which we’ll look at in more detail below. CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGE
CBD and THC are the most dominant properties in the cannabis plant, although marijuana grown for recreational purposes usually contains more THC than CBD. However, in recent years some cannabis growers have used selective breeding techniques to create strains of cannabis with high levels of CBD and near-zero levels of THC.
This has led to various CBD products, such as e-liquid, skin balm, capsules and more, which provide the useful properties of CBD without the mind-altering side effects of THC. We will look at these other products in future articles but for the purposes of this article, we will focus on CBD vaping products.
The legal status of CBD varies throughout the world, and is changing all the time. For example, in the UK, CBD’s links with cannabis (an illegal class B drug) mean manufacturers cannot discuss the health benefits and have to state that their CBD products have no medicinal purpose. However, CBD users all over the world have reported dramatic effects on their health and day to day life.
What Health Benefits Does CBD Have?
The range of reported health benefits are vast. Online forums are full of people claiming it cured everything from depression to cancer to skin conditions.
A 2013 study of the effects of CBD on animals, published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, found CBD worked successfully in the following ways:
- Combats anxiety and depression disorders
- Combats tumor and cancer cells
- Combats psychosis disorders
- Combats inflammatory disorders
- Combats neurodegenerative disorders
- Suppresses seizure activity
You can see more information about studies into the effects CBD and cannabis have on health here. There are many more ongoing studies and we can expect more comprehensive information in the coming years.
A brief look at CBD message forums on sites such as Reddit and Facebook show people reporting improvements with all manner of ailments and issues after using CBD. This is a list of some of the health problems CBD can help with, but there are many many more:
- Pain management

CBD also seems to offer natural protection against the negative elements of the marijuana high. Numerous studies suggest that CBD acts to reduce the intoxicating effects of THC, such as memory impairment and paranoia, as well as increasing alertness.
It should also be noted, there is no risk of lethal overdose from CBD.
How Do I Get Started With CBD Vaping ?
When it comes to vaping CBD, there are various places to begin. Many people start with a simple cigalike vape pen, such as the Kannavape, Medipen or Má. These can be a useful place to start, if somewhat expensive. There are different varieties, some disposable and some with replaceable cartridges. CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGE
Another option is to buy CBD e-juice, such as the ranges offered by Harmony or Cloud9. This juice can be used in a standard vaping set-up. These come in different strengths, and range from low (25mg of CBD per 10ml bottle) to high (500mg of CBD per 10ml bottle). The high strength CBD juice can be very expensive but will obviously prove more effective than the weaker varieties.
You can also make your own CBD vaping e-juice using CBD isolate. We will look into this in more detail in a future article but we would not recommend this for newcomers to CBD. It’s much safer to buy from respected CBD vendors.
Finally, if you live in a country where cannabis is legal it could be worth trying to find a strain that is low in THC and high in CBD. This could come in many forms, such as wax, shatter or dry herb. You will need a special type of vaporizer that works with these substances, such as the Dr Dabber Aurora.
How Should I Vape CBD E-Juice?
Firstly, It’s important to find out the PG/VG ratio of the CBD e-juice to see whether it is suitable for your tank or RTA. For example, if the CBD juice is max VG it might not wick properly in a plus-ohm tank.
Some people may find vaping high CBD ejuice at a high wattage overwhelming – too much can lead to feelings of nausea. It’s best to start at a low wattage and work your way up, or even use a plus-ohm tank if the PG/VG ratio allows
Personally, I’ve found vaping medium strength CBD e-juice at 20w on a 0.8ohm coil to be the best method. This wattage means I can control the amount of CBD I inhale and don’t risk ingesting too much at once, while also meaning I get a substantial hit each time. This will vary from person to person so don’t be afraid to experiment, but always start low.
The MigVapor Bug Mini is an excellent product to start with. Read our review here.
What Should I Expect?
At the very least, you should feel a slight calming effect. If you have any ailments, physical or mental, that CBD can help with then you may notice improvements over time. It’s important to note that with physical problems CBD isn’t an instant hit product. It takes regular monitored use to feel any effects, and in some cases it simply might not do anything. If you’re using CBD to relax or reduce anxiety and depression then the results can be much quicker. To relax check out the best CBD Vape Liq uids at Flight AMS’s.
It’s difficult to recommend a specific starting point as people’s needs – not to mention physiology – vary so much. At a rough guide, try vaping around 10mg of CBD on your first day. If you notice positive results then stick with this. If you don’t sense anything, try 20mg the next day. Personally, I find vaping 30mg of CBD per day, once a week is enough for me to feel relaxed and clear-headed CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGE
However, some CBD users consume much more than this, with some people requiring at least 200mg to feel anything. This would be a very high dose for a newcomer so don’t be tempted to dive in at the deep end. Too much CBD vaping can cause anxiety or nausea. It’s good practice to start small and increase your daily dosage until you notice any effects.
CBD doesn’t have a notable taste, although at high doses you may be able to sense a subtle herb aroma. The throat hit is slightly different to standard e-juice, providing a more silky mouthfeel. You can find CBD e-liquid in a variety of flavours, much like standard e-juice, and some even contains nicotine as well.
Are There Any Negatives To CBD Vaping?
Some people have reported negative side effects when using CBD, even in small amounts so be careful, especially in the early stages. Like any consumable substance, CBD isn’t for everyone. If you feel it is has having a negative impact, or merely no effect at all, then unfortunately CBD isn’t for you.
It’s important to note that CBD vaping is not a replacement for proper medical help. If you are suffering from any serious conditions you should always speak to your doctor first, before attempting to self-medicate. Many doctors around the world are recognising the benefits of CBD so you may get good advice from them.
What Lies Ahead?
Depending on how often you vape CBD, your tolerance is likely to increase. Some people like to use CBD daily, as a pain management tool, and their tolerance will go up quicker than someone who uses it once a week to relax. But this usually isn’t a dramatic increase – many daily users report that they reach a certain level and can stick with this indefinitely.
Unfortunately, the scientific information about CBD, let alone vaping CBD, is limited so there are no hard and fast rules about how to progress. It’s always worth speaking to people in similar positions so feel free to comment at the bottom of this page and join in discussions on the Spinfuel Facebook page.
